Scotland - Kilmartin to Isle of Skye

The Caledonian Canal is an engineering monument connecting east with west Scotland. It was built in the 1800s to join up the various bodies of water between Fort William and Inverness. It follows 'The Great Glen', Scotland's longest valley (117km). There are 29 locks and 10 swing bridges along the waterway. There are 8 locks right here called the Neptunes Staircase to connect Loch Linnhe with Loch Ness.
